We offer tax calculators dating back to 2011.

The IRS has never been keen on surprises. Know what to expect.

Whether you’re slightly behind on your taxes or up to date and ready to conquer tax season 2017, it’s nice to have a starting point. Taxes are intimidating if you go into it not knowing whether you owe the IRS or can expect a refund. Why not figure that out first?

Accessing prior year tax calculators online

With PriorTax, you can find out what your tax refund will be before you even think about the IRS. You don’t even need to create an account or enter any personal information at all. In fact it’s completely anonymous. And did I mention it’s 100% free?

We offer tax calculators dating back to 2011. You can access any of them by clicking the buttons below:

Find out your 2016 tax refund too!

You may not know it from our brand name but we can also help you out with your current year 2016 tax return too. You can find out what you owe or will be refunded by clicking the button below:

Information to provide in the calculators

Once you’re on our tax calculator page, it’s pretty straightforward. We provide you with different sections to help navigate. Our tabs include the following:

  • Personal Info. This includes your filing status, your age, etc.
  • Income Info. This includes wages, investments, business, etc.
  • Deductions and Credits. This includes expenses, donations, education, retirement, etc that may qualify you for tax deductions or credits.

What if I am missing information?

Of course, the more information on your tax situation that you have handy, the better. However, we know that documents are received at different times and receipts can go missing.

You have the choice to be as specific as you’d like with our calculators. The amount we provide to you is based solely on the information you enter. What’s this mean? Well, if you haven’t yet received your W-2 form, for example, you can estimate that income information within our calculator and we’ll give you a calculation based on your guesstimate. As long as you keep in mind that your amount could change once you enter the exact amount, you’re good to go. Want to know a trick if you don’t have your W-2 yet? Take a look at your last pay stub received. This has most of the information you’ll need to enter or it will give you a pretty good idea of how to guess.

Can I collect tax refunds from every prior year?

It’s important to realize that you won’t be able to claim refunds if the tax year you’re filing for is more than the IRS’ statutory of limitations allows. The IRS gives taxpayers three years from the filing deadline for that year to claim a refund. For example, if you’re filing your 2012 tax return in 2017, it is too late to claim your refund. The last date you would have been able to was April 18th, 2016. You should still file so that you are up to date. Since you did not owe any tax, you will not be subject to any IRS penalty fees for filing late.

How to file prior year tax returns online

As mentioned, it’s better late than never when it comes to filing late tax returns. Plus, it’s super easy considering you can prepare them all on one website, PriorTax.com. We offer affordable pricing for every tax situation and complete customer support. You can file a return for any tax year dating back to 2005. So what are you waiting for? Get caught up today!
